Usui Reiki

Reiki is an energy-based healing practice that is rooted in the awareness that all entities have life force energy that flows through - and radiates from - the Self.

The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese characters, rei, meaning universal spirit, and ki, meaning vital life energy. When we experience physical discomfort or disease, it is an indicator that we also have blockages to the free flow of Ki.

Reiki is a therapeutic approach in which the practitioner becomes a channel for the delivery of universal energy to a client, to enhance vitality and promote the body’s innate ability to heal. The intention of the Reiki practitioner is to act as a conduit for the delivery of universal energy and thereby replenish and restore energy flow and balance.

In my own practice, when a client comes to me for a Reiki session, I first do an intake with the client (in person, over the phone, or email), listening to any issues that come up.  I use meditation to clear the path for channeling pure healing Ki to the areas where it is most needed. Depending on my client’s preference, I use either light-touch or no-touch hand movements and symbology to guide the flow of Ki. (Because Reiki works through a body’s auric fields, which surround the physical body, direct contact is not required.)

Ki is an endless energy, structured into systems and fields. These systems can interact within individuals and between individuals and their surroundings, enabling the exchange of universal energy.

An imbalance of energy fields or flow is thought to be associated with conditions of disease and emotional distress. Reiki addresses the body’s imbalances and promotes a sense of harmony and balance within a client’s energy system—mind, body, and spirit.
